DOG WALK

My eyes shoot open as they react to the sound of something loud. I force myself to turn my head to see where that sound originated. As my vision returns, I see the red light of the time with a blinking dot. I pull myself to reach the button and eventually smash my hand down on top of it.

I look around the room as I get my head in order, only to find at the bottom of the bed. My 4-year-old
sheepdog just staring at me. He puts his paw on my bed and refuses to take his eyes off me. I greet him with a friendly hello as I push myself to get out of bed. I put my feet down for the first time today, and I go to head downstairs. Once I reach the kitchen, I get my cheerio and tea. I eat, and once I'm finished, I get my Pjs off and my causal wear on. Buddy sits beside the door with a ball below him, wagging his tail. I connect the lead to his collar and put the ball in my pocket and a ball thrower in my
right hand. I open the door and head out. As I walk up the road, I notice men in vis jackets and signs
telling me I can't walk up that way. I immediately cross the door and go a long way. I reach a pathway leading to a small entrance to the field with a little gate. Before I can open it, Buddy is pulling on the lead. I can't let him go yet.

I haven't checked if anyone or a dog is on the other side. I drag him onto the field once we hit the long
screen grass. I reach for the collar and unclip the lead. Buddy runs off as he has realised he is free but returns for me. I follow as he runs off to explore the field. I put the ball in the launcher, which causes him to go crazy in excitement. I throw the ball, and he runs like an Olympic runner after it and jumps in the air to catch it. He comes running back even faster. We come across a group of trees, the woods of this massive field.

We go through a tiny gap and squeeze through some trees until we hit a pathway. We stay on the path while Buddy goes ahead, wagging his tail while looking back at me. We approach the trail's end, which lands us on the golf course. I look around quickly to see if there are any golfers everywhere.
There are none, thankfully. So we walk onto the golf course. Buddy looks down a golf hole and finds a golf ball he collects in his mouth. He runs off very happy with what he has. He drops the ball before me while waiting for me to collect and throw. I do so, and it almost lands on a pond, but he jumps in the air
to catch it before it lands. I sigh of relief, though it's better that ball than my own. I hear a loud rumbling sound. I checked the sky to see if it was starting to rain or about to thunder. All I see is a clear blue sky.

I checked behind me, and I saw a tractor approaching me far away. I look around to see any sign of an exit. I see a log that leads back to the open field. So I call Buddy, but he's waiting for me to throw the ball. I run towards him and take the ball. I put it in my pocket, so he follows me and heads to the log to climb on it back to the open field.

I feel my heart racing, and I calm down. I pull the golf ball from my pocket, but it isn't there. It must have fallen out from climbing, so I used the other ball that came with the launcher. I throw it again. I start walking again, and a few minutes later, we come across another pond. Buddy
runs up to the pond. He surveys the pond and gets ready to jump in. I call him and make a 'no' sound to stop himfrom going in. Suddenly, another dog from behind, a big runner-type dog, comes up to Buddy and me.

This makes Buddy jump and then growl. The other dog slowly approaches Buddy, butthen he startsbarking loudly in a get-away-from-me way. Before something happens, I
put the lead back on, but I still have to drag him away. The other dog runs up to us, which causes
Buddy to panic and bark again. I keep pulling him until the other dog is taken away. After a few more minutes, we are back where we started at the entrance, which is now the exit.

I put him back on his lead and let him put the ball in his mouth. We get back home, and I unlock the door. Take the lead off for the final time. He runs inside the house and heads straight for his bed. Tired.

THE-END.

THE HOOK

NIGHT. Another late shift over. As I walk out with my coat
and bag. My work colleagues shout farewells at me with
a wave goodbye and a few hugs. I walk from the store and
head towards a pathway leading me home. The track is
full of huge brushes, with the way out really far down the
path. This way is quiet and peaceful. A lone black cat runs
across from one bush to another. I keep walking until I’m
on a quiet road with no cars. I cross the
street while looking both ways just to be safe. I reach the
other side, and I head towards the hill. This makes me a little
closer to home. As I get further up the mountain, I feel
something. A feeling, a sense that someone is right behind
me. I turn around and notice a hook-like object
or shadow in a bush at the side. It’s hard to see what it is
exactly as I see some light reflecting on it, but it could be
anything, so I walk off. As I almost reach the top of the hill,
I decided to turn back around to make sure. As I turn, I notice
some boots in the corner of my eye, so I feel dread as I move
my eyes further up to see a man in the blackness, just
standing there.
